Set amongst a picturesque rock waterfall and lush tropical gardens, Te Vara Nui brings a wonderful new interactive cultural attraction to Rarotonga and your hosts at Te Vara Nui Village look forward to sharing our Polynesian history, legends and culture with you.

The Cultural Village Tour is a 1.5-hour educational and interactive tour that showcases many of our traditional methods including weaving & carving, traditional medicine making, ancestral navigational techniques, and the preparation of traditional dance costumes. You will visit a Marae (a sacred enclosure for religious ceremonies) where the High Chiefs of the village once met for ceremonies and any issues surrounding the Village and its people. You will also learn how we prepare our traditional feasts, as well as enjoy a demonstration of our tree of life, the ‘Coconut Tree,’ and learn of its benefits and how important it is to our people.

The Over-Water Night Show & Dinner offers guests an authentic cultural experience in a very unique setting. While you enjoy a delicious Island / Western Buffet dinner prepared by their local and international chefs, you will witness the most spectacular over-water show presented to you by Rarotonga’s finest dancers and musicians. By flaming torchlight, these passionate dancers will perform for you through song and dance on floating and fixed stages, the Legend of their ancestor ‘Tongaiti’, a voyaging warrior who set sail from a faraway land with his tribe, and how he came to settle on Rarotonga.

This tour brings our history to life and offers you the opportunity of a lifetime to experience how our ancestors once lived and survived hundreds of years ago.
